Adding Ortho Slices
Image-Pro with 3D Module only
Adding a 'slice' to a volume allows you to view the pixel data that is present on a single plane in the volume. The Add Ortho Slice tool of the 3D View Options Panel allows you to add an orthogonal slice facing the X, Y, or Z plane.
Note: The Ortho slice option limits the placement of the slice to one axis of orientation. If you need finer adjustments for the slice, use the Oblique slice option.
To add an Ortho slice:
Click on the Add Ortho Slice button in the menu bar of the 3D View Options panel.
A slice is added to the volume in the default position (parallel to the XY plane).
Additionally, an "Ortho Slice" group of controls is added to the 3D View Options panel.
Click on to the left of the new "Ortho Slice" item in the 3D View Options panel.
The Ortho Slice controls for the slice you just added are shown.
From the Orientation pull-down list box, select the orientation you want for the slice. For example, if you want the slice to face the X axis, select "X".
Adjust the Slice position slider to ideally position the slice in the 3D Viewer. The Slice position slider moves the slice up and down the 'facing' axis.
Once the slice is ideally positioned, click on the Clipping option in the Oblique Slice options group to show the slice surface view.
The surface of the slice is shown.
Multiple oblique slices can be added, as needed.
